Isn't it about time you

By the very nature of their use, extract ventilation systems become soiled with a build-up of grease and carbon deposits on a daily basis. Over time this build-up starts to create a Fire and Health and Safety hazard. To stop this happening it is essential that the ductwork is cleaned on a regular basis.

In recent years, insurance companies have become very concerned about this risk and it is therefore now a stipulation of many policies that kitchen extract ventilation systems are cleaned at least every 12 months, more frequently where usage is high.

On 1st October 2006, a law came into effect called the ‘Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005’ which states that it is the duty of the ‘responsible person’ (usually the owner or manager) of any non-domestic premises to carry out a full fire safety check.  Naturally this would include the extract system within any commercial catering establishment which can pose a very real risk to both staff and customers alike.

One of the reasons this law was brought into force was because of the escalating number of fires within catering outlets, a primary source of which have been documented by insurance companies to originate from dirty kitchen extract ventilation systems.
